Over the past month, Charissa Realty had the pleasure of hosting a four-part webinar series, “Understanding Ontario’s New HST Relief for New Homes.” The sessions brought together homebuyers, aspiring homeowners, and industry professionals for practical conversations about what the new HST relief measures could mean for those considering a qualifying new home.

Across the four sessions, we explored some of the questions that naturally come up when buying a new home. We discussed the basics of the HST relief, who may qualify, how eligibility can affect a purchase, and some of the financial considerations buyers should think about before moving forward.

We also touched on areas such as down payments, mortgage qualification, closing costs, and the importance of understanding the numbers beyond the purchase price. For many buyers, these are just as important as finding the right property.

The Q&A sessions were particularly valuable, with questions around how the relief may apply to different purchasing situations, what buyers should confirm before signing an agreement, how the rebate may interact with financing, and what costs should be planned for when purchasing a new build.

One of the things we appreciated most was the opportunity to have open conversations around questions that buyers may not always know to ask until they are already well into the purchasing process.
